This is a collection of three audio essays which describe the history and recommendations for use of the Westminster Shorter Catechism.I learned much from the essays.The catechism is read by Sinclair Ferguson, a person who has an actual Scottish accent because he is from Scotland. He is a good reader.The presentation is a series of questions followed by answers. It is unlike any other method of learning Christian doctrine I've ever listened to. Each question (or pair of questions) is on a separate track on the audio CD. This is useful for finding a question ... or re-listening to one.
I'm using this in a weekly Bible study in our church. We're only just past a third of the way through, but I like the convenience of this book on Kindle. Because I use this on my Android tablet and have my Bible on my Galaxy S4, I was able to give my paperback copy to someone else in our study group. The Kindle version on my tablet is easy to read and the illustrations are large enough to see clearly without straining my eyes.
It's a good review of the catechism however it would be easier to read in current language both in commentary and scripture.
This book is great for study groups. I am using it for Sunday school class with the Jr. high class and it covers everything. Would recommend this book to anyone that might be in a teaching position. Never again wonder as to what to cover for next small group, start in the beginning and work your way through. Put down the topical studies and go for the real deal, the whole Scriptures!
My church uses this for Sunday school for our middle school aged kids. Very helpful aid for catechizing our youth!
Very short I expected it to be like the book
This book is an incredible help to understanding the truth of the Scriptures and prevents wrong thinking and concluding which can happen in getting caught in all the details. It is absolutely helpful for Christ followers seeking doctrinal purity.
The author does an excellent job of explaining and supporting the questions and answers in the catechism. I love having it on m kindle.
